What is the Hora Chakra
The Hora Chakra divides day and night into 24 parts, each ruled by one of seven planets — Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. Work aligned with the ruling planet of the hour is believed to flow more smoothly and bear better results.
How horas are calculated
A hora is derived like this:
- Take the length of the day (sunset − sunrise).
- Take the length of the night (next sunrise − sunset).
- Divide the day into 12 equal parts and the night into 12.
- The planetary order is: Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars.
- Starting from sunrise, this order repeats through all 24 horas.
Why hora matters
- Each planet carries its own distinct influence
- Working in the right planet's hour makes the work easier
- You draw on the strength of the ruling planet
- It gives everyday tasks a simple timing framework
Work by planet
- Sun: government work, leadership, matters of the father
- Moon: matters of the mother, travel, emotional conversations
- Mars: physical tasks, land purchase, competition
- Mercury: business, study, negotiation
- Jupiter: puja, marriage matters, meeting teachers
- Venus: love, the arts, music, entertainment
- Saturn: long projects, hard labour, matters of justice
Keep in mind
- Avoid work that runs against the nature of the ruling planet
- Do not begin auspicious work (weddings and the like) in Saturn's hora
- Defer peace-making and reconciliation during Mars's hora
Quick points to remember
- The hora cycle begins at sunrise.
- Each hora is ruled by one planet.
- Pick the window that matches your task.
- Use the ruling planet's strength to your advantage.
- Day horas and night horas run separately.
