City-Specific Panchang-Pure Naming Ceremony Muhurats
Every date marked Shubha in the calendar above isn't just a generic "good day". It goes through a rigorous Vedic planetary filter — checking Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, and weekday simultaneously. The engine also applies Saturday blocks, Rikta Tithi exclusions, and adverse yoga filters specific to child ceremonies.
Namkaran is primarily a Nakshatra-driven samskara — the first letter of the baby's name is determined by their birth Nakshatra's quarter (charana), making it critically important that the ceremony itself falls on an auspicious Nakshatra.
What is the Sutika Period?
The first 10 days after birth are called the Sutika (postnatal purification) period. The Dharmasindhu states that no auspicious ceremonies should be performed during this window. Following the Muhurta Chintamani, Namkaran is performed from the 11th day onward, and can take place up to 100 days after birth on a day with a pure panchang.
