You look at your chart and see a powerful Venus. You expect great relationships and luxury. But years pass, and nothing happens. It's as if the planet isn't even there. Why? Because in Lal Kitab, a planet can be perfectly placed, yet fast asleep.

In traditional astrology, a planet is either strong or weak. Lal Kitab adds a totally different perspective: Jaagta (awake), Soya (sleeping), and Andha (blind). A sleeping planet is sitting right there in your house, but it's dormant. It simply cannot deliver its results until it is woken up. And a blind planet is even trickier — it sits there causing friction, unable to look anywhere else. Check your birth details below to see which of your 9 planets are actually awake and working for you.

How Do Planets Fall Asleep?

Who is sitting with whom: A planet doesn't just fall asleep randomly. It happens when it shares a house with a very specific "enemy" planet. Think of it like putting two incompatible people in the same room — one of them is going to shut down completely. For example, if Sun and Saturn sit in the same house, Saturn's heavy presence forces the Sun to go to sleep. The Sun is still there, but its light is turned off.

The Sleeping Planet (Soya): When a planet is sleeping, the areas of life it controls simply stop moving forward. If your Jupiter is sleeping in the 5th house, you might face frustrating delays with children or education, even if that Jupiter is exalted. The sword is sharp, but the warrior is asleep.

The Blind Planet (Andha): This is a more intense situation. A blind planet doesn't just sit quietly — it loses its ability to cast its aspect (drishti) on other houses. It becomes blind to the rest of the chart. If Lal Kitab rules say a planet is both sleeping and blind, the "blind" condition takes over. These are the planets that need immediate attention through remedies.

The Awake Planet (Jaagta): This is what you want. An awake planet functions exactly as it should. If it's exalted, it gives great results. If it's debilitated, it gives bad results — but at least it's active and you know what you're dealing with. Most planets in your chart will be awake.

The Three Planet States

🟢

Jaagta (Awake)

There is no conflicting planet sitting in the same house. The planet is fully conscious and doing its job based on its dignity (whether good or bad). This is what you expect when you get a normal astrology reading.

🟡

Soya (Sleeping)

Another planet in the same house has forced this planet to shut down. It sits there, but its voice is completely muted. This is where Lal Kitab's special "waking up" remedies come in to jump-start the planet's energy.

🔴

Andha (Blind)

The most blocked state. Not only are its own results muted, but it cannot look at or help any other house in the chart. Lal Kitab recommends immediate, practical remedies for blind planets before fixing anything else.

Myths About Sleeping Planets

MythReality
A sleeping planet means my life is ruined. Not at all. A sleeping planet just means those specific results are delayed or require a totally different approach. Lal Kitab has precise, everyday remedies to "wake up" these planets.
Sleeping is the same thing as Combustion (Asta).Combustion happens when a planet gets too close to the Sun. Sleeping happens when specific "enemy" planets sit in the exact same house. They are completely different concepts with entirely different remedies.
Once a planet is sleeping, it stays asleep forever.Your birth chart doesn't change, so technically the planet is always in a sleeping position. But Lal Kitab practitioners know that consistent remedies act like an alarm clock, forcing the planet to deliver results over time.

Sleeping & Blind Planets in Lal Kitab FAQs

Q1.What does a sleeping planet mean in Lal Kitab?
A sleeping planet is a planet that sits in a house but doesn't give its natural results. It's like having a car with a full tank of gas but no keys. It happens when certain conflicting planets occupy the same house, shutting down the planet's energy.
Q2.How do you wake up a sleeping planet?
Lal Kitab has very specific remedies for waking up planets. It usually involves doing an action related to a friendly planet. For example, to wake up a sleeping Jupiter, you might be asked to respect your elders or donate yellow items. You don't need expensive gemstones to do this.
Q3.Can multiple planets be sleeping at the same time?
Yes. If you have a chart with many planets sitting together in the same houses (conjunctions), you are highly likely to have multiple sleeping or blind planets. A chart where all planets sit in separate houses usually has no sleeping planets at all.
Q4.Is a sleeping planet worse than a debilitated planet?
They are just different problems. A debilitated planet actively gives bad or struggling results. A sleeping planet gives almost no results—it just stagnates. Interestingly, if a debilitated planet falls asleep, it actually stops giving bad results, which can sometimes be a relief!
