What this check looks for

Ten combinations that astrologers read for work and life abroad. No single one decides; together they show a lean.

  1. 1

The 12th lord joined to the 10th lord or the lagna lord

The 12th house is the house of far places. Its lord counts as joined to the 10th lord or the lagna lord when it is that same planet (with Aquarius rising, Saturn rules both the lagna and the 12th), sits with it, exchanges signs with it, or when either sits in the other's house (the 12th lord in the 10th house or the lagna, or that lord in the 12th). This ties distant lands to your work or to you; with a 4th house that points away from home, it is read as settling abroad.

  2. 2

The 9th lord joined to the 10th lord or the lagna lord

The 9th house is the house of long journeys. Its lord joined in the same ways to the 10th lord or the lagna lord (with Taurus rising, Saturn rules both the 9th and the 10th) points to travel for work, read as a stint abroad rather than settling.

  3. 3

Rahu in a house of distance

Rahu, the planet of foreign lands, in the 12th, 9th, 10th or 4th house, or in the sign that holds the 10th lord.

  4. 4

A 4th house that points away from home

The 4th house is home. Its lord in the 12th house, or Saturn, Rahu or Ketu sitting in the 4th, is read as moving away from where you were born.

  5. 5

The Moon in a movable sign

The Moon, the mind, in Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn: a mind that takes easily to a change of place.

  6. 6

The 10th lord in a movable sign

The lord of the 10th house in Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn: work that moves.

  7. 7

Two or more planets in the 12th house

A crowded 12th house, not counting Ketu, puts weight on far places and on spending away from home.

  8. 8

The 10th lord in the Dashamsha's 12th or 9th house

In the D10 chart, the birth chart's 10th lord in the 12th or 9th house: work in, or with, far places.

    Needs a sure birth time

  9. 9

The Atmakaraka or Amatyakaraka in the 9th or 12th house

In Jaimini astrology, the planet of the self (Atmakaraka) or of your work (Amatyakaraka) in the 9th or 12th house from the lagna.

  10. 10

    Saturn with Rahu (Nadi)

In the Bhrigu Nandi Nadi, Saturn, the planet of work, with or in trine to Rahu points to work in foreign lands.

How to read your result

These are tendencies, not a forecast. Many people with several of these signs never move, and many who live abroad have few of them.
No combination is weighed above another here, and the check gives no score on purpose.
Settling or a stint: the 12th lord together with a 4th house that points away from home is read as settling; the 9th lord alone, as a stint. A chart can show both.
When matters as much as whether: a move abroad usually comes in the dasha of a planet tied to the 12th, 9th or 4th house, or of Rahu. The Career Report dates those windows.
Your birth time matters: the Dashamsha reading needs a time you are sure of, so with a margin it is set aside.
