How Does the 1-249 Number System Work?

The mathematical foundation: The zodiac has 360°. It contains 27 nakshatras × 9 sub-portions each = 243 sub-divisions. But KP uses 249 divisions (some calculations count slightly differently due to rounding in certain nakshatras). Each number maps to a unique sub-portion of the zodiac.

How your number becomes a chart: When you pick number 156, the system maps it to a specific zodiac degree (e.g., 24°26' Virgo). This degree becomes your Prashna ascendant. Then the system calculates all 12 cusps using Placidus house division for the current moment and location, and places all 9 planets at their current positions. You now have a complete KP chart — without ever needing your birth details.
