Ask a KP astrologer "Will I get this job?" and the first thing they'll do is list the significators of houses 2, 6, 10, and 11 — the career houses. Significators are the planets that control each life area in your chart. Not by lordship alone (that's Parashari), but through a ranked 4-level chain unique to KP.

This calculator builds the complete significator table for your chart. For each of the 12 houses, it identifies every planet that has "power" over that house — ranked by strength from Level 1 (strongest) to Level 4 (weakest). This is the analysis table that working KP astrologers build before making any prediction.

The 4-Level Significator Hierarchy — How KP Ranks Planetary Power

Level 1 — Occupants (Strongest): Planets physically sitting inside a house are its most powerful significators. If Mars is sitting in your 10th house, Mars is a Level 1 significator of the 10th — no one else has more direct control over your career matters.

Level 2 — Star Lords of Occupants: The nakshatra lord of each occupant planet becomes a Level 2 significator. If Mars sits in Rohini nakshatra (Moon's star), then Moon becomes an L2 significator of the 10th house. This is the "indirect influence through the star" layer.

Level 3 — Sign Lord (Cuspal Lord): The ruler of the sign where the house cusp falls. If the 10th cusp is in Taurus, Venus is a Level 3 significator. This is what Parashari calls the "house lord" — but in KP, it ranks only 3rd in importance.

Level 4 — Star Lord of the Sign Lord: The nakshatra lord of the L3 sign lord. If Venus (L3) is in Hasta nakshatra, Moon becomes an L4 significator. This is the weakest connection, but still relevant when multiple planets are being compared.

The priority is always L1 > L2 > L3 > L4. When looking for career significators, a planet at L1 for the 10th house is far more influential than one at L4. This ranked system replaces the vague "he aspects the 10th house so he influences career" analysis of traditional methods.

K.S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader III (1965), Chapter on "Significators and Their Strength." The 4-level significator hierarchy (known as ABCD significators in some KP texts) is documented as the systematic method for identifying which planets control each life area.

KP Significator Groups — Which Houses to Check for Marriage, Career, Wealth

💍

Marriage & Relationships

Look at significators of houses 2, 7, and 11. If a planet strongly signifies all three, it becomes a "marriage karaka." The dasha of this planet (when supported by ruling planets) indicates the timing of marriage.

💼

Career & Income

Houses 2 (wealth), 6 (service/job), 10 (profession), and 11 (gains). Strong significators common to these houses indicate the most career-active planets. Their dasha periods are your career windows.

❤️

Health & Wellbeing

The 1st cusp sub lord determines overall health promise. For chronic issues, check significators of houses 1, 6, 8, and 12. A planet signifying both 1 and 6 can indicate health fluctuations during its dasha.

🏠

Property & Home

Houses 4 (property), 11 (gains), and 12 (expenses/investment). When significators of 4 and 11 align, property acquisition is strongly indicated. Add house 6 for loans — if you're buying through a mortgage.

✈️

Foreign Travel & Settlement

Houses 3 (short travel), 9 (long distance/foreign), and 12 (foreign land). If significators of 9 and 12 coincide at L1 or L2, overseas relocation is strongly promised. Add house 11 for successful settlement.

🎓

Education & Higher Studies

Houses 4 (basic education), 9 (higher education/university), and 11 (fulfilment). For competitive exam success, add house 6. For scholarships or foreign study, add houses 9 and 12.

👶

Children & Progeny

Houses 2 (family expansion), 5 (children), and 11 (fulfilment of desire). The 5th cusp sub lord is the primary judge. If it signifies 2, 5, 11 — children are promised. If it signifies 1, 4, 10 — likely denied or delayed.

⚖️

Legal Matters & Disputes

Houses 6 (disputes, winning over enemies), 7 (opponent/other party), and 11 (victory). If the 6th cusp sub lord signifies 6 and 11, you are likely to win. If it signifies 7 and 12, the opponent has the upper hand.

🏢

Business & Self-Employment

Houses 2 (capital), 7 (partnerships/deals), 10 (business activity), and 11 (profit). For import-export, add house 9 and 12. For government contracts, house 10 at L1 is critical.

🚗

Vehicle Purchase

Houses 4 (vehicles/comforts), 11 (gains), and 12 (expenditure). Vehicle purchase timing aligns with the dasha of a planet signifying all three. If buying on loan, add house 6.

KP Significators — Common Misconceptions

"The house lord is always the strongest significator."

In KP, the house lord (sign lord of the cusp) is only Level 3. A planet occupying the house (Level 1) or the star lord of that occupant (Level 2) outranks the house lord. This is the biggest mindset shift when moving from Parashari to KP.

"More significators = stronger house."

Not necessarily. What matters is the LEVEL at which significators appear. One planet at Level 1 with supportive sub lord connections is more powerful than five planets at Level 4. Quality and level trumps quantity.

"You only need significators from beneficial houses."

You need to check BOTH supportive AND detrimental house significators. If the 7th cusp sub lord signifies houses 2, 7, 11 (good) but also 6, 12 (bad), the picture is mixed. KP uses both sides to make a balanced judgment.

"Strong significators and weak significators listed in results mean the same thing."

They are NOT the same. "Strong significators" are planets at Level 1 or Level 2 — they have DIRECT control (occupying the house or being the star lord of an occupant). "Weak significators" are planets that only influence through aspects or very indirect connections. When making predictions, strong significators take clear priority — weak significators support the reading but don't drive it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1.What are significators in KP astrology?
Significators are planets that have influence over a specific house. KP identifies them through a 4-level hierarchy: Level 1 (planets occupying the house — strongest), Level 2 (star lords of occupants), Level 3 (sign lord of the cusp), Level 4 (star lord of the sign lord — weakest). Higher levels always take priority.
Q2.How do I use significators for prediction?
Step 1: Identify the houses relevant to your question (e.g., 2, 7, 11 for marriage). Step 2: Find all significators for those houses. Step 3: The planet that appears as a significator across multiple relevant houses is the "event karaka." Step 4: The event will happen during the dasha of this karaka, confirmed by ruling planets.
Q3.What is the difference between KP significators and Parashari house lords?
In Parashari, the "house lord" (sign ruler of the cusp) is the primary significator. In KP, the house lord ranks only Level 3 — below occupants (L1) and their star lords (L2). KP also uses the star lord of the house lord (L4), which Parashari doesn't consider at all.
Q4.Can a planet signify conflicting houses?
Yes, and this is common. A planet might signify houses 7 (marriage) and 12 (separation) simultaneously. In KP, this creates a mixed result — the planet's sub lord determines which tendency dominates. This nuance is why the sub lord is called the "judge" even in significator analysis.
Q5.What are the marriage houses in KP?
Houses 2 (family), 7 (partner), and 11 (fulfilment of desires). For marriage to be promised, the sub lord of the 7th cusp should signify a combination of these houses. The opposing houses (1, 6, 10, 12) deny or delay marriage when signified by the 7th cusp sub lord.
Q6.What are the career houses in KP?
Houses 2 (wealth), 6 (service), 10 (profession), and 11 (gains). A planet strongly signifying this group — especially at Level 1 or Level 2 — becomes the prime career significator. Its dasha periods are the most career-active phases of your life.
