Three stories of 2027

1 / 3

Saturn tries Aries, then steps back

On 3 June Saturn leaves Pisces for Aries, a sign it last sat in from April 1998 to June 2000. It turns retrograde on 9 August and slips back into Pisces on 20 October, turning direct on 24 December. It enters Aries for good on 23 February 2028. For four and a half months, Sade Sati and Dhaiya pass to a new set of Moon signs, and then hand back.

Jupiter changes sign three times

Jupiter starts the year retrograde in Leo, slips back into Cancer on 25 January and turns direct on 13 April. It re-enters Leo on 26 June and moves on to Virgo on 26 November. Of the slow planets, Jupiter is the one that truly ends 2027 in a new sign.

Rahu and Ketu hold still, and the eclipses follow them

Rahu moves into Capricorn and Ketu into Cancer on 5 December 2026, and both stay there until 24 June 2028. Eclipses happen when the Sun and the Moon line up near Rahu or Ketu, so both solar eclipses of 2027 fall in these two signs: an annular eclipse on 6 February in Capricorn, and a total eclipse on 2 August in Cancer. The 2 August eclipse is the one India will see, as a partial eclipse.

"2027 is a Saturn year" is only half right. Saturn ends the year exactly where it began, in Pisces. The planet that really moves is Jupiter.

Moon sign, not Sun sign

A Vedic yearly reading counts every transit from your Moon sign, the sign the Moon was in when you were born, not from the Sun-sign column in a newspaper. The same transit also lands differently in different charts, depending on the dasha you are running. So the dates on this page are the same for everyone; what they mean for you is not.
